Christine lives in a small windswept prairie city where time moves slowly. One morning, in the middle of a hot, dry summer, she makes the acquaintance of an elderly neighbour who only lives a few streets over from her. The two become close friends and before you know it, the old man and the little girl hatch a plan together, a visit by train to a great inland ocean called Lake Winnipeg, which the little girl has never seen, and the old man yearns for. An endearing story in French about friendship that conveys the passage of time and the mystery of change.
